The layers of Soviet propaganda through space race inspired home goods.
Motion infographic for graduate level design history research focused on the use of themes of space in 1960s Soviet home goods as a way to control the narrative for the Cold War as well as show national pride over the Space Race. Matryoshkas were used to represent each layer of propaganda and the uses of home goods, space, housing, and the realities of the Cold War and the ‘soft power’ aspect between the US and USSR.
Photographs were edited in Adobe Photoshop to include halftones and isolate sections out. Adobe Illustrator was used for each matryoshka design. Final animations were created and assembled in Adobe After Effects.
