Branding and website concept of a devilishly good vinyl record store in Milwaukee.
Brimley Records is a personal project that began as a response to the lack of branding and informative websites I often saw when shopping at records stores across Milwaukee. I noticed record stores will only have a logo to serve as their branding and wanted to explore what a full branding set for a store like this could contain while connecting to the music community of the Milwaukee area.
Drawing inspiration from the unique DIY elements in the branding of the Milwaukee School of Engineering’s radio station, WSME, a long standing supporter of local music and stories my dad has told me of experiencing first hand the rise of iconic local bands such as the Violent Femmes, I wanted to capture this unique energy of Milwaukee’s music scene. Combining clean and rounded elements of rubber hose illustrations and text with gritty halftones and vintage photographs, I set out to create a brand that matches the same charm found in between aisles of vinyl records and band t-shirts.
